Come Out

By:Sarah Wood

Why are you hiding, abstract and sinking?

Moving each time I look up; descending, falling

Beautiful, illuminating; the essence of my survival

I see your shine; the glow still emanates

But you are hiding even more, descending, falling

Beyond the trees, beyond the face of this earth

Only the cool wind on my naked arm reminds me

Of the life that shines where you hide, that gives hope

A hope to my own inner being, to prevent me from descending, falling

The buzz of the bees, the tweeting of birds

The rush of cars, and my eyes upon the fading of evening sky

Keeps me alive, yet still wandering aimlessly; but not descending, falling

Bare feet on the blanket of cool grass, my back on the trunk of a blooming apple tree

Gnats flying around, the freshly plowed earth, graveyard full of tangling weeds

Still I am here- waiting; glad I'm not descending, falling

I will see you tomorrow, and I wish you would stay

But if you will not, I'll be in the same place as before

Watching your back as hope remains forever in my heart; you are descending, falling.
