I Am Alone

By:Sarah Wood

Alone, amid the harsh blows of a North wind to my face

Looking to the West as the sun climbs down with grace

Alone, cloaked in blackness, a shadow of the day

Struggling blindly for the path, taking an unknown way

Alone, rustles in the breeze; others passing quickly by

No one stops to help, so escapes a weary sigh

Alone, strong pinks and reds of day's fading light

Slowly transforms to my soul, the lonely night

Alone, tears moisten the cheeks

No one sees the heart that leaks

Alone, the stranger moves by the others

Trying to stifle her cries through smothers

Alone, the pain of walking by myself

No need to use the delicate art of stealth

Alone, the blackness of the mysterious sky

No longer holds its secrets, so I need not try

Alone, the light in the East is finally becoming clearer

But to becoming whole again, I am not getting any nearer

I am alone.
